Yes, we’re having another party today. Any excuse for a party, is my motto. One of my mottoes. The others are “Never give a sucker an even break, or smarten up a chump” and “To hell with anything unrefined.”

Anyway, we have two family birthdays this month, and we celebrate both of them together with a gathering of our “little family”, which isn’t so little anymore, what with spouses (spice?) and the occasional child.

I made a carrot cake. It’s just from a box, but I doctored it up with golden raisins, chopped walnuts and dessicated coconut (which tastes a lot better than it sounds). Dessicated coconut sounds like something you’d find in a Hawaiian pyramid, if there should be such a thing. “Dear God–it’s the mummy of King Kamehameha! And what’s that in his hand? May the Lord have mercy on our souls–it’s a DESSICATED COCONUT!”

I made cream cheese icing for the cake, and that should be good, too.

  • cream cheese (duh)
  • vanilla
  • milk
  • salt
  • powdered sugar

Soften the cream cheese. Add bits of the rest of the stuff until it’s runny enough to spread and spreadable enough not to run and it tastes like you want it to taste. The end.

Enjoy your day. I intend to enjoy mine!
