I’ve often posted about Magdalena’s restaurant and coffee shop, and now I’m posting again, this time for a reason and not just because I happen to be there.
One of Magdalena’s employees, Cheryl Leuthart, has been in the hospital since DECEMBER. It’s been one thing after another…and she has no insurance. So Magdalena’s is putting on a benefit buffet, donating all the food and service and all the proceeds to Cheryl.
WHEN: Sunday, January 25, from 5-7pm
HOW MUCH: $10 in advance
$12 at the door
Children 12 and under, half price
Call 812-738-8075 if you want to reserve a place or to learn more.
My mother and I plan to be there for part of it. If you’re in the area, please consider coming, too.
I was planning to take macaroni salad to a friend’s church dinner today, but it started pouring down snow and now it’s raining cold rain that’s just WAITING for the temperature to drop so it can freeze. Charlie’s very happy, because he loves macaroni salad. I usually don’t, but I like this.
MOMGOTH’S ACTUALLY GOOD MACARONI SALAD
- Macaroni cooked 8 minutes and drained
- mayonnaise (NOT salad dressing!), not too much
- sweet pickle relish
- salt, pepper, celery seed
- onion powder (because Charlie can’t eat onions–real is better)
- Diced or sliced celery
Finally–and I want all you A NIGHT AT THE OPERA Stateroom Scene fans to say this with me–aloud, you know you want to–
- AND TWO HARD-BOILED EGGS
Writing prompt: Shove all the characters in one of your stories/books or in one of your favorite stories/books into one small room and have them interact at close quarters, with all their personalities and narrative thrusts clashing right up against one another.
